[...] That being said, are we arguing that shipping water from New Zealand uses less energy than sourcing water from local or regional sources? No. In looking for waters to offer in our stores, we have sourced water bottles locally to our stores wherever possible. However our shoppers demand for bottled water far outstrips local supplies, and many of our shoppers seek out water from more pristine corners of the world, such as New Zealand and Fiji. We choose local and regionally grown and produced products whenever possible. Purchasing locally produced products contributes to the success of local growers and food artisans and the local economy. We recently set aside an annual budget of $10 million for our new Local Producer Loan Program.
