very informative weblog… jen gaum did an excellent job on the model.. very natural makeup. and easy for me to do myself.. thanks.
October 4th, 2007 at 7:53 am
The young lady who was doing this presentation used her fingers without gloves or anything to put the makeup on the client… instead of using a wedgie… you never ever put your hands on your face!!! I have excellent skin and I’ve used wedgies or something like them since I was in my 20’s when I lady told me you never ever touch someones face with your hands…
October 4th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
that was great information!
i was wondering whether the hydration mist went on before or after the powder + now i know!
October 5th, 2007 at 12:37 am
Yesterday I complemented a woman on her great skin and she said it was thanks to mineral makeup. Now I am dying to try it!
The Foundation Tint product mentioned in the video sounded particularly interesting but I wonder if it is enough to cover little lines?
October 5th, 2007 at 7:10 am
What great products. I think these would be much better on the skin.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:28 am
OK, this stuff looks awesome! My skin needs some major help!
October 5th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Great video. I learned lots of new tricks. I use a mineral makeup right now but would love to try something else.
October 5th, 2007 at 8:30 am
Wow, I am ready to try it.
October 5th, 2007 at 9:14 am
This was so informative. After my daughter was born I have had such sensitive skin and would have bad reactions to eveything I have tried. After a while I just gave up on putting any thing on. After seeing this I want to go try this product.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:00 am
Very cool! I am currently trying to switch over all of my makeup to mineral makeup. Since its a little more pricey than regular makeup, i’m doing it piece by piece. I even got my mom to switch her makeup! It’s just added incintive that this makeup is from wholefoods. One of my fav stores. I dont get to go all that often, though, because there is not one locally. Bummer! Would love to add this makeup to my routine!
October 5th, 2007 at 10:33 am
Wow great products I have always stayed away from make-up except for special occasions because it always felt like a mask on my skin and my Mom always told me make-up was bad for your skin, now after watching this podcast I can hardly wait to get my hands on this product. I love the fact that it is good for your skin.
October 5th, 2007 at 11:18 am
I’d love to give this a try.
FYI: /modmom.blogspot.com
October 5th, 2007 at 11:39 am
That was educational! I like the techniques she uses to apply makeup without having to touch your face.Specifically liked the foundation which didn’t make the model look “overdone”. I like the concept of minerals since natural is SO much better for skin (especially as an everyday substitute).
October 5th, 2007 at 12:05 pm
I am a big fan of mineral makeup and this looks awesome! Thank you!!
October 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
This stuff looks fantabulous!!
Ya ok so its not a word, but it describes it wonderfully!!
October 5th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
Loved the demo – I have always wondered how to use those eye trios! I’ve been using mineral makeup for years but it’s great to see it more readily available in shops rather than having to specially order it over the internet.
October 6th, 2007 at 12:58 am
Wow that looks easy. After 3 kids I’m starting to think about myself once in a while.
October 6th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
I’d love to give it a try too. I LOVE Whole Foods even though there aren’t any where I live. I go any chance I can when I travel.
October 6th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
I was surprised to find out that it was better for you than nothing at all.
Loved that it has different teas in its product.
Love that it protects from UVA and UVB rays.
October 6th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
This is truly remarkable! I’m very impressed! I have had Roseacea for years and I need something light and good for my skin. I’ve never tried mineral make-up before and I would LOVE to try this!! Sounds like it could do wonders for my skin.
October 6th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
This was the first mineral make-up infomercial that I have seen where I’ve gotten lost in the presentation and actually ‘forgotten’ I was watching a commercial (basically).
October 7th, 2007 at 4:20 am
I also love mineral makeup! I haven’t tried this brand yet but hope to!!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:13 pm
This was really interesting…I’ve always had a terrible time with any makeup, moisturizer – really anything I’ve had to put on the skin on my face. I’m very excited to give this a try and see how it works for me!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:35 pm

I love hearing about natural make-up trends. It took me a while to get used to wearing it – most of the colors are so much more vivid than on “regular” makeup – but now I love it.
October 8th, 2007 at 7:54 am
This is exactly what I need!! With winter coming my face is a wreck and needs TLC!

There’s a Whole Foods Market near my house…I’m going to have to stop by there and get some mineral makeup to try!
October 8th, 2007 at 11:54 am
I am very impressed by this podcast and really look forward to incorporating a mineral face care routine into my self-care. I was fascinated to learn that it protects against UVA and UVB rays. Thanks!

PS- Thanks http://www.makeuplovesme.com for telling me about this podcast
October 8th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
I am new in California and to mineral makeup. I searched online for the nearest Whole Foods Market so I could get me the Mineral Fusion fresh face starter kit. Alas, I got “tricked” and found myself at Wild Oats instead (which I’m later told was acquired by Whole Foods) with no Mineral Fusion in sight! =\
October 8th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
Looks good! Is it better than Bare Essentials?

http://www.makeuplovesme.com
I have tried some mineral make-up before but haven’t tried it long-term to see the effects. I love Whole Foods in Austin, so I may have to check it out next time I am there.
October 8th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
I had heard of this before but now after watching this podcast I am going to try it.
October 8th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
Hey folks thanks for tuning into this episode. Jen the makeup artist gave me some tips after we did this podcast and I have not used anything but Mineral Fusion since, I love the tinted cream. For the person who asked about the hydration mist – you can use it before or after the powder. If you use it after it will set your makeup.
Keep tuning in, in November we will be doing a cold and flu series!
October 8th, 2007 at 5:41 pm
Very cool – I did not know that Whole Foods sold makeup!

Love mineral makeup!!
October 8th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
I didn’t know Whole Foods carried makeup, I am intrigued. I would be interested to know more about the specific benefits to your skin of the various minerals and antioxidants.
October 8th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
I am all for mineral make up and I thought the video was very information in terms of the process of order in applying mineral make up. I have used mineral based make up products in the past and am wickedly excited about the line soon to be available at Whole foods.

Incredible! Wausau, WI NEEDS you, Whole Foods. In so many ways. Hit a girl from the stix up!
October 9th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
I love that the products are more beneficial than to not wear anything at all. Perfect excuse to wear makeup. I wonder if the products have any scents?

October 9th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
I have been excited to try more natural makeup products than my old favorites. It’s time to say goodbye to them–so full of gross chemicals. This stuff looks good!
October 9th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
Hi Everyone, This is Jen Gaum the Mineral Fusion Makeup Artist. I am glad you enjoyed the Pod Cast. I recommend you all try these products because they will change the way you think about make up. It is skin care with color or the extension of your skin care. It will seriously help to protect and improve the health and condition of the skin. Be sure to mist your skin before and after with the hydration mist. It acts like a primer and helps to set the makeup.
Enjoy and remember it is better to wear Mineral Fusion then to wear no makeup at all!
October 9th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
This product looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it!
October 10th, 2007 at 6:36 am
bismuth oxychloriode – does your mineral makeup have this ingredient. it can be very irriating to the skin. it is to my skin.
October 10th, 2007 at 8:02 am
I can’t wait to try this!! I love whole foods and i love this kind of make up!!!
October 10th, 2007 at 1:04 pm

Great video!!!
October 11th, 2007 at 4:54 am
I’ve been using i.d. bare escentuals and can’t imagine using liquid make-up again. I’ve tried the drug store versions of mineral makeup and they just don’t cut it. I would try this brand, too.
October 11th, 2007 at 8:30 am
cool product loved the video very informative!

Great video. Jen did a great job. Would love to win this one.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:40 am
I liked it! I try to use natural products if any and appriciate the knowledge being put out there! I liked that the young lady used her fingers. I hate wedgies or gloves.
Thanks!
October 11th, 2007 at 10:19 am
I can’t wait to try this makeup! I’ve been a Bare Minerals user for years so I’m already a fan of natural makeup. And it’s a bonus that Whole Foods is my store already!
October 11th, 2007 at 10:51 am
nice to know such products exist.
and contain such great ingredients.
October 11th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
Very informative! Thank you.
October 11th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
I agree with the previous comment that it was a bit odd that the makeup artist would use a Q-tip than go over the product with her fingers. I was especially bothers when she wiped her nose with the back of her hand, then applied the eye pencil.
That being said. I think that the product looks really good on the model. It really evened out her skin tone. What level of sun protection (SPF) does this product provide? I have very dry skin and need to use a moisturizer. Does the “mist” replace that?
October 11th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
That was a very informative podcast. It makes me wanna run out and buy, and use it tomorrow. I’m addicted to makeup and the fact that this is actually good for your skin is a plus in my book. And even if I fall asleep in it I have nothing to worry about because I won’t break out in a zillion zits. Wow! I’m definately sold on this product…..Thanks
October 11th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Thanks for all the info on Mineral Makeup. I don’t want to wear anything else now. I’m going to make a trip to Whole Foods this weekend, to pick up a few things. I really want the facial mist, the sheer foundation and the pencils.
Thanks,
Christa Jean

I think that natural cosmetics is something that I’m considering wearing on a daily bases, and also something that I would definatley tell my friends, family, and co-worker’s about.
October 12th, 2007 at 11:32 am
I’m definatly considering wearing natural cosmedics on a daily bases, and I’m going to tell my family, friends, and co-workers about natural cosmetics for sure.
October 12th, 2007 at 11:33 am
I used to wear makeup every day and noticed my skin would break out so I stopped. It’s interesting to find a makeup that is actually good for my skin and would be better for me than not wearing anything. I’ve got to try this!

October 12th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
I think the video was very imformative and there was enough close up’s of the models face to get an idea of what steps are needed to create this everyday natural face. I also liked how they used sort of a regular kind of girl to work on and not some girl with completely flawless skin. I would give this make up a try for sure because I too have eneven skin and it really changed how her skin looked after the product was applied.
October 12th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Right on! Sounds good to me
October 12th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
I love mineral makeup and Im interested in trying new brands. I will have to check it out.
October 12th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
very natural looking and feels great too
October 12th, 2007 at 10:09 pm
The podcast is great, but here are a few things I’d love to see:
A whole episode devoted to foundation. I just bought the Bare Minerals starter set and found it to be too lightweight to cover the major color unevenness under my eyes and cheeckbone. I also think it feels a little dry as I apply it, even after I apply moisturizer and the primer that comes with the kit. What I’ve had to do is apply a light layer of liquid foundation, then the Bare Minerals. And I really feel like I have to put on way more than I should to get the color tones even.
Is there some other primer I should be using? I really don’t want to put so many layers on anymore.
Also, I think it would be great if you could just keep the camera close-up on the model’s face. Really close up. Otherwise I can’t see what the makeup artist is doing! Nor can I see her technique. What was the purpose of the Q-tip? And what did the model’s face look like close up before the makeup? It’s hard to tell from so far away. I want to see a model with blotchy, uneven skin being transformed into perfect-looking skin. That will make me buy the product.
Finally, please have the artist show the items she is using to the camera. I want to see a closeup of the product and the brushes, so I know what to buy if I want to.
Looking forward to the next episode!
October 13th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
This was an interesting, informative video.I would absolutely love to give mineral makeup a try.

Very informative!Wish I had a Whole Foods around me so I could try it!
October 14th, 2007 at 3:55 am
Being fair-skinned, I have always had trouble with bronzers looking ridiculous on my skin although they always seem to look great on the rest of the world! I think this time we might have a great match using this product as well as technique!!
October 14th, 2007 at 11:15 am
I am really looking forward to trying Mineral Fusion, but I want to know everything that is in Mineral Fusion cosmetics. What makes Mineral Fusions different from the other mineral makeup companies?
October 14th, 2007 at 11:21 am
This makeup sounds like something I would love.
October 14th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
This was an interesting, informative video.I would love to try mineral makeup.
October 14th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
I really want to start using mineral makeup now. I am hearing more and more about it. Not only do I want my body to be healthy, I want my skin to look healthy as well.
October 14th, 2007 at 6:50 pm
http://modmom.blogspot.com
I would love to try this. I already use another brand of this type of makeup so it will be interesting to compare
October 14th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
I found it helpful to know that you should spritz your face prior to applying mineral makeup. I also liked the setting powder to combat shine!
October 15th, 2007 at 1:32 am
After trying these mineral makeup products for the first time, I can definitely see the appeal and buzz about “going mineral”. As heavyweights like MAC, and Laura Mercier are launching their mineral makeup products, it does seem that a new era is coming!
October 15th, 2007 at 1:50 am
This looks like a great product for my wife.
October 15th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Now that I’m older I have to wear makeup to hide the wrinkles and dark circles. I would be interested in trying this product to see whether or not it makes a difference for my skin.
October 15th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
This looks AWESOME!
October 15th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Hi there, so glad that everyone is enjoying the podcast! Also thanks for any feedback that can make these better.
Deelainia, I hear you about the close ups on the products. When I was editing I noted that for the future.
Some people have had questios about specific benefits and ingredients:
•Helps protect your skin and improve the health and condition of the skin as well
•Made from pure rich pigments from the earth
•The makeup lays on the surface of the skin and they allow the skin to breathe and function completely normally
•All products are infused with vitamins and antioxidants, like White tea, Red tea, Antileukine 6™, and Pomegranate.
•No parabens as preservatives. They use natural alternative to parabens.
Also there has been a lot of talk about the hydration mist, here is some info:
•It is loaded with hyrolaunic-acid, a moisture magnet.
•Gives an instant boost of moisture, and refreshes any time of day
•Allows the minerals to just lay on the surface and look undetectable in the skin
Please continue to let us know about your questions and feedback – Mara
October 16th, 2007 at 11:04 am
I love mineral makeup and have been using it for years now. I would definitely be interested in trying out this one.
October 16th, 2007 at 12:11 pm
That was a very informative video. I’m new to mineral makeup so it’s interesting to see it being applied. The makeover looked amazing.
October 16th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
My sister-in-law uses this product and loves it. I enjoyed the demonstration!
October 16th, 2007 at 8:25 pm
i like that it’s good for my skin, NOT bad, problematic.
October 16th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Hi Everyone! This is Jen Gaum the makeup artist from the podcast again.
The response to mineral fusion has been amazing and I hope you are loving the makeup. Please keep asking questions and I will try to answer as many as I can!
If you need more coverage from the makeup you can always use the sheer tint first to neutralize any discoloration. You can apply a small amount of the appropriate color with your finger tips. It acts like a tinted face primer and neutralizes any unevenness on the face. Then you can apply either the pressed base or the loose base over top to add more coverage.
Remember, the longer the hair is on the brush the more sheer the coverage will be. The blender brush will provide a sheer coverage. The flawless brush gives a medium coverage and the kabuki brush will give a fuller coverage. Also the pressed base is good for all skin types and the loose base is better for a drier skin. It tends to be a little darker in color and fuller in coverage then the pressed.
If you need to brighten up underneath the eye area be sure to use one of our concealers. Each shade comes with a light and dark color so you can customize to get an exact match. Apply a small amount of the light and dark with the camouflage brush to the dark shadow. It is very moisturizing and will brighten up the under eye perfectly. Don’t forget to use touch eye pencil in the lower inside rim of the bottom eye. This will neutralize any redness and brightens up a tired eye.
I use the q tip when I do someone else’s makeup. I especially love it around the eye area. It allows me to get into hard to get into areas without lifting the eye lid with my thumb.
Enjoy!
October 16th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
I like the make-up concept, but I thought the pod-cast was a bit droll, repetative and didn’t really show me how to apply the make-up. A before and after shot might have helped. I’m not even sure the interviewer was necessary. The model should have had her hair out of the way. I like how natural the lips, eyes looked. The foundation worked, but isn’t it usually applied prior to the eye-shadow? The application of the eye-shadow colors wasn’t clear enough. Sorry!
October 16th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
I have wanted to try minerl makeup for some time now. I am turning 40 in two weeks and have always looke much younger than I am. But, in the last few months I have aged. I am going to come and see what you can do for me!!
Thx for the informative pocast!
Lisa
October 16th, 2007 at 10:54 pm

October 18th, 2007 at 6:40 am
Great and informative video on applying the mineral based makeup. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks Whole Foods!
October 18th, 2007 at 7:50 am
I’ve been switching all my makeup to mineral as I’m able to and loving it so far! I won’t let my daughter who is new to makeup use anything else because I want her skin taken care of.
Great products and I learned alot from the podcast. Thank you.
October 18th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
great video and amazing tips, very helpful!! however, i wish you guys would have tested the makeup on more skin tones
bye!
October 18th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
I had no idea whole foods carried makeup. I am interested more natural looking makeup that’s better for my older skin. I live in CO and the climate here is much drier. I will definitely be trying it out.
October 18th, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Thanks for the video. I will be looking at this make up seriously.
October 19th, 2007 at 5:24 am
The video was very informative. I like the light appearance a user gets from the foundation, as well as the SPF benefits. I’ll check out the products at my local Whole Foods Market soon.

2 things: 1. Applying makeup to a client without wearing gloves…big no-no. You always use gloves! And 2., I am eager to try this makeup now!!

I am a big fan of mineral based makeup and I am so glad to see it finally being mass marketed and available for everyone. I have been using mineral based makeup for about 3 months. I have 2 teenaged daugthers and I would like to get them using it, too.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:15 am
Interesting product, definately would like to try it- sounds amazing!!
October 19th, 2007 at 7:27 am
I love the natural proucts. Skin should only have natures products applied to it to keep it the healthiest and best looking it can be.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:29 am
I love mineral makeup – but good brushes are a factor. It doesn’t apply well with average makeup brushes.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:40 am
Just wandered over from a post at Makeup Loves Me (http://www.makeuplovesme.com) to learn more about this makeup.
It sounds great; I’ll definitely check it out next time I get over to Whole Foods.
By the way … any news on when is the Brooklyn store scheduled to open?
October 19th, 2007 at 7:42 am
I’m always eager to try something new. Please enter me.

By the way, reading the other comments here led me to discover the very interesting http://modmom.blogspot.com.
Two new discoveries from one blog posting? What a great way to start the day!

This is exactly the kind of make-up routine I could actually do. I like the clean natural look of the products and the explanations on how to apply the products was very clear.

I love mineral makeup and yould absolutely love to try this!
October 19th, 2007 at 8:54 am
Good info, thanks. Having combination skin, I have trouble finding the right make-up and skincare combination. The SPF protection is something I always look for – so I’m anxious to give this a try.

October 19th, 2007 at 11:20 am
hi jen gaum!
i bought the loose powder foundation yesterday + it has a spongey cover. i think it’s an applicator that the powder is supposed to go through. there aren’t directions on the package. can you explain this + how i get started with it? (the tester has an easier sprinkle through opening that’s easy to use with the kabuki brush. i don’t want to open the container to use the powder + spill it.)
October 19th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
I haven’t tried mineral make-up so this was very informative.
October 19th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Love the smooth application. Would love to try this new product!
October 19th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
This was a very informative video. I was not really familiar with mineral makeups, so I learned a lot. It was nice to learn they had UVB protection, as they said SPF with color! I’d love to try these products!
October 19th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
i think natural makeup is great because it seems a lot better for your skin than the pore clogging stuff. !!!
October 19th, 2007 at 2:03 pm
Very informative weblog.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I liked it. Was very interesting and informative and I’m glad I found it.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Informative and interesting.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Thanks, Whole Foods and Whole Body. This natural mineral makeup looks as delicious as the good foods I so enjoy from your store here in Baton Rouge!
October 19th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
I love mineral make-up. People think you are not wearing make up at all. And it’s great for your skin.
October 19th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
I am coming to New York on vacation, Whole Foods is on my list for a stop. I have to try the mineral makeup. Is your sister store (Wild Oats) going to be carrying it also? I shop there on a regular basis and I would love to be able to get this makeup in town.
Thx again for the info!

I like the touch eye pencil. It’s a handy tip.
October 19th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Thanks!
October 19th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
Better for me than going au naturel?Certainly so with an SPF of 18. That is really nice. I liked the look and that they are innovating constantly. I have to check this stuff out! Thanks!
October 19th, 2007 at 5:54 pm
The fact that mineral makeup benefits the skin appeals to me. I also like that it looks very natural and your own skin tone shows through the translucent minerals.
In the video I was bothered by the white head on the model’s mouth – the close up was repulsive.
October 19th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Excellent presentation for some excellent products. All natural, good for your skin, and a lovely natural look. Very nice!
October 19th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
I love mineral makeup – I’d love to try this!
October 19th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
Loved the video as it explained quite a bit and showed the application as well. I have been wanting to try mineral makeup for sometime, but worry that it will feel dry on my skin.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Great video! I love mineral make-up. A friend introduced it to me about a couple months ago.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
Natural cosmetics that are good for me and my skin. This is a product I want. Also love the way the skin looks after applying. Please have more like this as it shows how to apply.
October 19th, 2007 at 7:44 pm
very nice makeup, informative video
October 19th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
I have never tried mineral makeup. I have acne prone skin and always feared that mineral makeup wouldn’t provide enough coverage to be worth the investment. But this appears to apply evenly and provides great coverage.
October 19th, 2007 at 10:04 pm
I’ve got a new baby and with all the sleepless nights, I am so in need of something to make me feel younger and pretty. I’m totally into the eye trio. I hope you randomly select me!!!
October 20th, 2007 at 8:10 am
I heard about this podcast on http://modmom.blogspot.com/ and enjoyed watching the tips! Thanks!
October 20th, 2007 at 8:56 am
Makes sense!
October 20th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Hello!
This is for the customer that asked about applying the loose powder. You first want to unscrew the top piece from the bottom piece. You will see a clear plastic top. I recommend punching a few holes with a pin so the product will sprinkle out a bit. I then pour a small amount of the product into the inside of the cap. Use your sponge to apply to face or for more sheer coverage you may want to purchase the flawless or blender brush. apply going downwards toward your jaw line. Please let me know if this helps! Don’t forget to mist your skin with the hydration mist.before and after. i hope this helps!
October 21st, 2007 at 5:22 pm
Great video. I already was using the powder foundation but was not using the mist to start and set the makeup. Glad i viewed the video.
October 21st, 2007 at 7:48 pm
I really need something to hide the dark circles under my eyes.
October 21st, 2007 at 10:58 pm
My Mom introduced me to mineral make up. It’s great! Jen Gaum did a great job of explaining how it is on your skin. You can’t even feel it, and my skin never breaks out! Many compliments from many people! I love it! Would never go back to regular make up!
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:31 am
come on everyone, don’t worry so much about getting old and wasting money on all these creams. Be relaxed with who you are!
October 22nd, 2007 at 5:10 am
This line looks like it’s a step above several other mineral makeup brands out there (especially the biggest one I’m sure we’ve all heard about). I love the hydrating spray & the tinted foundation moisturizer. Probably my only complaint with my mineral makeup is that if I don’t use enough moisturizer prior to applying, I sometimes feel over-dry. I think the spray would def help with that! I’ll be heading to my local WF to check this stuff out!
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:30 pm
WORST PRODUCT EVER….I was sooo excited to go try, and let me tell you, not worth your money. The “spray” smells like lysol, while it hydrates somewhat, the smell is just off kilter (like a sunless tanner), and the brush is TERRIBLE. It sheds EVERYWHERE, and leads your face, clothes, neck, etc looking like you own a very very big hairy black cat. The powders are somewhat decent texture, but since the applicator is so bad, they go on chaulky. I did like the light end of luster for nighttime (it is too glittery for daytime, you end up looking like 12 year old playing with glitter makeup). Save your money to buy Bare Minerals….this mineral fusion is the dollar store version.
October 24th, 2007 at 10:18 am
Very informative.
I learned some great tips that I’ll use when I get this fab makeup.
Can’t wait to get started looking good naturally.
Thanks!
October 25th, 2007 at 9:22 am
Very informative and it seems easy to do yourself, I think I’ll give mineral make-up a try!
October 26th, 2007 at 11:46 am
Is this made by Bare Escentuals? I use and love their bare minerals makeup, and noticed that this brand’s brushes go by the same names (kabuki, flawless face) as my Bare Escentuals brushes. I’m curious to know if this is the same product.
October 28th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
What a fabulous product! Great demon, too. I can’t wait to try this product.
October 29th, 2007 at 8:51 am
Cool. I’ve been hearing of mineral makeup but didn’t really know what it was all about. I think I should give it a try!
October 29th, 2007 at 9:11 am
Cool. I’ll have to go get some.
October 29th, 2007 at 9:16 am
Cool. I should pick some up after work.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:41 pm
I got the link for this off of http://www.modmom.blogspot.com and I found this podcast to be very informative! I have heard a lot about mineral make up these days and it was great to learn how to properly apply it and what kinds of products whole foods will be offering. Great stuff!
October 30th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
informative..ive been looking for makeup that appears natural and is also healthy for my skin!
October 30th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
I stopped in my local wholefoodsmarket and saw the makeup on sale no less. I am a mineral make-up user, so thought why not. I do like the fact that I was able to purchase a pressed powder version of mineral make-up, very convenient. I love the hydrating mist, and the powder gives me great coverage. I just wish that the brush was of better quality, it sheds all over. I would reccomend the products.
November 2nd, 2007 at 7:47 am
“Hey…I bought the kit too and had a similar problem with the Brush, But I washed it and let it dry and it stopped shedding…Now it works great!”
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:07 am
Thanks for the video… I have been looking around at the different mineral makeup products out there. I have sensitive skin and have just quit wearing liquid makeup. I now wear just powder but don’t get the coverage. Lots of good tips here for application!
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:19 pm
i just recently found the link to this podcast and read thru some of the comments (not all)
I was wondering if the makeup is sold at wholefoods in canada (toronto) as well? i dont have one near me so will have to trak a distance and wanted to be sure its sold there beforehand?! thx for any help.
November 7th, 2007 at 10:02 am
I found out about the $20 sale last month too late! My boyfriend took pity on me and treated me to the pressed powder & kabuki brush. They’re amazing, but it ended up costing about $80 for the two of them. It hurts a little, when I know I missed out on a good thing. ;( As for the people who say “be happy with who you are, don’t waste money on makeup”… Using makeup helps boost people’s confidence by concealing things like scars. It’s not cosmetic surgery.
In an ideal world, no one would need makeup, but people are sadly shallow & judge others by their appearance. If it helps someone keep their chin up a bit more, then who cares whether they want to use makeup or not?

To Comment #2:
I am a medical esthetician and used to teach the application of cosmetics (mineral make-up in specific).
Yes, you CAN touch a clients face with your hands given that the client sees you wash them very well with soap and water. There is absolutely nothing wrong with skin to skin contact. In fact, most clients do not like the feel of rubber gloves against their face…and neither does the make-up!
This woman is doing everything right, you are simply misinformed.
December 20th, 2007 at 11:57 am
Although this new make-up line looks interesting… My only question is about the brush – looks like animal hair/sable or slaughterhouse by-products. Is this so?
January 17th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
I watched this video and it was very good. I am currently wearing a mineral makeup (not Whole Food’s), but I am little confused about this demonstration. I thought mineral makeup only came in powder form, not liquid. I know Jen applied a tint, which was liquid, but what was the mineral makeup she used?
February 5th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Thanks for your question about mineral makeup in liquid form. When creating liquid mineral foundations, there are many other ingredients aside from minerals in the formula to make the product liquid, spreadable and cream like. Mineral Fusion’s liquid sheer tint is mineral based. It offers light coverage and a dewy finish. It can also be used as a primer for the skin under a pressed or loose base. The coverage and finish is very different from a powder form, which appeals to many women. The SPF protection is less in liquid form because the mineral content is not as concentrated as it is in our pressed or loose bases which offer an SPF of 18+.
February 8th, 2008 at 9:40 am
how do i use the mineral fusion container/sponge to get the product out to apply it? i’m still having trouble with the full size powder. i have to unscrew the sponge covered top, then shake some powder into the cap. now the cap is too deep to get the sponge applicator into, so i try to sprinkle the powder from the cap onto the top of the sponge. this is not effective + always messy + wasteful. every time i open the sponge covered top i risk spilling the whole container. how can this container make sense to use as it is? why don’t you just make it like the store sample containers, so it “shakes” out a little at a time without having to unscrew the top? help
February 8th, 2008 at 10:57 am
This is excellent information. I LOVE the Mineral Fusion products, especially the pressed powder foundation. And I love that nothing at Whole Foods is ever tested on animals. I adore Whole Foods in so many ways.
February 24th, 2008 at 2:39 am
Love that video…..
March 11th, 2008 at 12:35 am
Very informative. The only thing I hear about is mineral makeup. It does look very easy. I’ll have to check this out next time. Oh, I love the nude/flesh tone pencil for the eyes and around the lips. I am curious about their prices..

Mineral makeup is very good for your skin, and can make you look 10 years younger. You can find some good Organic Makeup at VillageGreenMarket.com. They have a good range of ALL organic products, which I have tried and loved.

Whole Foods in Winter Park had no one who was qualified to assist me with the Mineral Fusion makeup (or any of the other brands they carry). They had only about half the line of foundations and a little more than half of the rest of the line. I had called the store before traveling 1 1/4 hours to get there and asked if they had someone to assist me with consultation about the mineral makeup and application of it and was assured that there would be such a person present; there was not. I was permitted to choose and apply the products they had, but there were no wipes, the lighting was poor, and the mirror was largely hidden behind the display. Nonetheless, the Mineral Fusion makeup I chose and applied looks good (for now, a few hours will tell whether it lasts or not), but it does feel a bit itchy (especially the eye shadow) and one of the ingredients is related to an acid that is known to cause sensitivity in allergy prone persons.
