I love this recipe, and just had a suggestion regarding the sugar.
I have been replacing white sugar in all of my baking with Sucanat. It results in a darker finished product, with a less dense texture, but still totally acceptable and delicious.
So if you are trying to get away from white sugar, maybe try this recipe using Sucanat instead.
