Organic food bars are loaded with Fat - and at least 300 calories per bar . . .that is an awful lot of both for a ’snack’ bar.

I had no idea I needed to check my bread for corn syrup! That’s just wrong.

An eye opener! Fat and sugar are everywhere.

Thank you for your comments. In fact, the fats that are in Organic Food bars are healthy fats. They actually play a role in supporting healthy metabolism and digestion, two crucial factors in maintaining healthy weight. Of course all fats in excess provide excess calories, but focusing on the good fats is a smart way to stay satisfied and healthy. Also, if snacking is part of your healthy diet, remember to eat smaller portions at meals to compensate. Thanks!

Fantastic podcast. I’ve been buying only organic and cooking at home more over the last few months, and the Dr. is right - fresh, homemade food is sooo delicious.

I have to say that I am shocked to find out there is corn sugar in bread! I really appreciate the advice on what to eat and what to stay away from. It seams that every where you turn all you hear is the word diet and not healthy eating. Its good that our attention is being brought to what we should be doing and not just what to stay away from. Thank you for the great advice.

I also was shocked to find out that there is corn syrup in bread! I had no idea.

THANK YOU! for mentioning the corn syrup in the bread. I tell people this all the time and they look like I’m telling them that cats can talk. I just happened to notice it one day and now spend a lot of time trying to find bread without it - especially when we’re out of town on vacation, etc. We depend on breads like Ezekial and local bakers otherwise. I love these podcasts. I’ve learned some new stuff and have learned more about things I sort of already knew. Please keep ‘em coming!

Great podcast, would love to try an organic food bar! They sound like they are really good for you!

Great podcast ! I’d have liked to listen to more, there’s so much to learn… I liked best the recommendations especially about getting back to unprocessed foods, avoiding corn syrup, nitrates and gmos… It could sound easy to rely on prepackaged foods to have the right calories number but it’s actually not that good….

Bread has corn syrup? Wow! I need to read labels more carefully! Thanks!

This is great information, very enlightening. I had no idea about the hidden corn syrup in bread. All the more reason to shop carefully & read labels.

I am learning so much from your podcasts I came here from modmom.blogspot.com and am very glad that she sent me here. snacks are my weakness and this was very informative as to healthy snacks I had an organic chocolate bar last week and it was so much better then any other snack bars that I had previously had I am so glad that I tried it

I’ve been reading labels for a long time and there are many foods with hidden sugar products and other chemicals too. I just skip them and stick to the most natural diet possible. Foods that are fresh, raw or cooked without fats or grilling are the mainstays of my diet. Sugar, salt, corn syrup, refined flours are all on my bad list and I do not miss them at all.

I’m shocked to learn bread has corn syrup in it . Thanks for the great information. I will be more careful in checking the ingredient in my diet foods to make sure they have the important nutrients I need.

What an informative podcast. I am the worst about actually scheduling time for health. However, this I have menus made for the next two months with healthy whole foods and am carving time out for exercise. Great reminder about hidden corn syrup. It increases hunger? Yikes! No wonder we can’t stop eating that stuff.

Very informative. I really need to get motivated to start eating healthy.

No more “food devoid of nutrition” for me. Unless you read the labels, you have no idea what they’ve put in packaged food. It doesn’t surprise me that some breads would contain corn syrup. What ever happened to just yeast, flour, water, and salt?

Referred from modmom.blogspot.com. It’s awful how much corn syrup is in many grocery products sold in mainstream grocery stores! I just discovered Whole Foods Market last year and I LOVE it! I love the food court! We need one closer though. The closest one is 45 minutes away!!! I really enjoyed the podcast - the intros are a bit long though.

I really enjoyed listening to Dr. Singh talk about how the body’s main goal is to repair, rebuild and regenerate. He talked about choosing foods/snacks that support the body’s objectives. When you are eating food that are lacking in nutrients we tend to eat more to of them to satisfy our hunger. This made sense to me! WOW! Thank you for the great information!

This was a great reminder that we need to read our labels more carefully, even in organic products!

I really don’t want to buy bread in the store any more after hearing about a hidden ingredient - corn syrup! It’s not hard to make bread at home so I think I will do that more now. Overall, good information to hear about. I might try one of Dr. Singh’s food bars now that I’ve heard more about them.

What great information. I have been trying to buy organic produce, but now it looks like I will change my way of shopping all together. I had no idea that there was corn syrup in bread. When I make bread it doesn’t have corn syrup in it… Oh I came here by way of modmom.blogspot.com.

I was wondering why I had read that diet foods were not good for a body - now I understand. Being lacking in actual nutrients just makes us hungrier later. Thank you for explaining that for me so well.

Thank you for informing me about which foods to avoid! Very beneficial information! I will try this out!
Thanks!

There’s too much corn syrup in everything and it is really hurting everyone.
