Arnica is very effective! My mother is 65, she was visiting this winter, and slipped on the ice- we applied arnica topically and there was little to no bruising.

I really enjoy these podcasts! Glad to listen, do you plan any coverage for recipes?

I agree, Arnica is the way to go for aches and bruises!

Hey Winnie, thanks for pointing out the food coverage, I’m heading there next!

I have been successfully taking glucosamine for over a year now, for chronic joint pain. I must say this has worked wonders. Of late I have really been drawn to ginger, so perhaps my joints are trying to tell me something here. I had no idea that ginger and turmeric were beneficial for swelling, thanks for sharing.

Arnica really is amazing for aches. I use it at night, almost nightly and have experienced good relief from topical application. I have friends you take it orally as well, but I haven’t tried that yet.

We went on a family vacation, and I must say I missed having access to your stores when we needed them. Next time I’ll travel with a homeopathic emergency kit.

Do you have any advice on the first thing you should do if you think you have sprained your ankle? Elevate and Ice, and should you wrap it, prior to adding or taking arnica?

My husband had to have a cortisone shot in his hip, scary stuff. He has been taking glucosamine for further support and so far so good, no more shots!

Great podcast. It is so helpful to think about natural alternatives to take care of ourselves.

Does taking two items together have a negative affect, such as Aspirin and Arnica?

I am a serious Mt Bike racer. Historically I used to take Advil post races, and prior and it would leave me feeling light headed. Post race now I am very into Arnica and epson salt baths, the combo really does wonders for the muscles and joints. I would suggest this combo to anyone doing serious outdoor workouts.

I like what everyone here is saying about arnica, it is on my short list.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Glad to hear there might be some natural relief for my poor muscles. I find I am exercising on the road more then the gym in summer, and my shins really feel the pain.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Epson salt soaking is a great way to ease sore muscles.
June 14th, 2008 at 8:14 am
I just read up some more on arnica, and believe the combination of homeopathic arnica and epson baths will be my new staple for sore muscle relief.
June 15th, 2008 at 11:13 am
I see the link to the food podcasts, heading there now. I hope there are some medicinal recipes which tie in with this coverage.

@Lisa @Margo From Malia: “For sprained ankles, my advice comes from years of gymnastics. Apply and take as soon as possible arnica, then ice, and elevate.”
June 17th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
@Amy I’d recommend speaking with your doctor or pharmacist about any contraindications for arnica and aspirin. Everyone’s different and I’d be hesitant to give you any medical advice without more background.

I agree with “FA” Dr. Hauschka does create the best skin care products I have ever found. Their cleansing cream is smooth, and does not leave my skin to dry.

I have the best remedy for sore muscles, don’t exercise. No really, I appreciate your suggestions and will take them to heart.
June 19th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
I believe remedies are helpful, but lifestyle choices are just, if not more important. I began a yoga practice last year and this brings the most relief to my body. I believe moderation and activity are key to a full life!

Arnica Montana for sore muscles and spasms really does work.
June 27th, 2008 at 1:47 am
A woman Mary whom I work out with had a bad bruise under her fingernail after a basketball game. She was in severe pain from the pressure under her nail. I rubbed arnica gel over her nail and finger. Mary is not one to quickly believe in natural remedies. By the time we walked into the gym, she said the pain was gone. Later she told me it was strange when she washed her hands and the arnica gel off her hands after the workout and the pain returned.

Arnica is an amazing healing agent, I have used it for years now, and still I’m amazed at how well it clears up bruising!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:52 am
I tried a product, BruiseMD, that promotes natural enzymes produced by pineapple (bromelain) and papaya, for my bruises. It worked! I was told that they have a new product coming out with Arnica Montana, in a cream or gel. We shall see. Until then, if you have bruises, the tablets may be worth a look. Take care.
