I often shop at Whole Foods late in the evening near closing and see beautiful produce being pulled out and replaced by fresh newer produce. It bothers me to think that with food prices so high and the working poor increasingly turning to food banks that this food ends up being composted. Can you please make an effort to find shelters or food kitchens that feed the food or pass it out to the hungry? That would be such a better way to keep it out of the landfill, and do a world of good for the hungry.

At Whole Foods Market our sustainability goals include moving to zero waste by keeping organic waste out of landfills. Since the city of Reno doesn’t compost, Full Circle is going to take our food waste and make it into compost for us. Full Circle recycles organic waste into high quality soil amendments and custom soil mixes for the Reno area.
