Wonderful! Thanks again for your coverage, I didn’t know John M had his own Salon.
July 8th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Thank you for covering this. Can you help us in the Bay Area find a place to have your hair colored naturally? My hairstylist just quit the business because she developed an auto-immune disease from working with toxic hair color for years. I’ve been doing some research and here that henna destroys your hair after long term use (makes it dry and frizzy). Help!
July 8th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
I’ve had similar problems with henna, as well as standard hair coloring. I truly hope the approaches you suggest bring some relief from the frizzzzzzy hair days.
July 8th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
great podcast! i need both the fine limp + curly information. my hair was fine, but since chemo it has a “chemo curl” that gets very tangley in the back underneath (dreadlocky), but i don’t want to cut it because i’ve never had a curl in my hair before + i think the new hair growing in is straight
July 9th, 2008 at 9:02 am
My hair actually seems more curly now that I have stopped coloring it and have started using an activator. I’ll give this color a shot, and see if I can have the best of both worlds, color and curl!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:34 am
I have a dear friend who runs a Salon and has been able to sucessfully switch product lines for coloration. She had become quite ill from chemical treaments and a doctor told her salon was nearly as toxic as working in a dry-cleaners. Her clients are happy and she is healthy!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Good for you Whole Foods! I think many of us who shop at your stores for food know the value in organics, but often don’t think about the impact what we put on our bodies can have on our health.
July 9th, 2008 at 11:48 am
John Masters is brilliant!
July 9th, 2008 at 11:52 am

Great to see these products in action!
July 9th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
I use to work handling hair coloring in a well known salon (which name will remain undisclosed). Several of my coworkers and I had negative responses and health issues after extended exposure to the heavy chemicals in traditional colors.
July 9th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Great follow up to the first video.

July 10th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
I’m really enjoying all the posts on this video. It sounds like we can have a salad party and use the same ingredients to help our hair.
July 11th, 2008 at 6:01 am
i listened to Podcast no. 2 with John(ohlala) and I found it to be quite interesting: thank you.
What he discussed was very appropriate to me: I have curly hair that can decide to be frizzy when it wants!
The products I would use are the same as in the podcast: detangler and dry hair nourishment. I know for a fact that what I use only masks the problem as it contains silicon. John’s products use citrus, lavender and cedarwood which actually fix the hair;not an instant gratification but well worth the wait!
It would be very nice to find help for my hair; it can be my best asset or my worst, depending upon the day.
July 11th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
I love avocado and would be more than willing to use their fatty acids to moisturize my hair.

Green tea is my favorite
July 11th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Well, since I have limp hair, it was recommended that I look for products with silk proteins and vitamin B5. For conditioners, I love the sound of avocado and evening primrose oil. I already periodically rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar in place of a regular conditioner.

I thought it was really interesting to think of avocado as an ingredient for hair. It’s been touted lately as good for health in general so it just makes sense that it would be beneficial to hair health also.

Nice to see JM in action!
August 10th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I agree that chemical treatments can be brutal. I once had a treatment and basically ended up with a 2nd degree burn.
August 12th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I also have to elaborate on the use of avocado, for century avocado has been a great skin care. In my country the old folks used avocado (or pear) to treat many skin ailments for acne to eczema. Great to see spa’s are using this natural wonder
August 14th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
i will have to try avocado..definitely. I really wish you could maybe do a podcast on just hair coloring. I want to try henna but i’m worried about the outcome, reactions t using hair henna sound negative but i hear if you use body henna it works well. I just want an alternative i’m done using chemicals in my hair!
March 22nd, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Real henna body art will not damage hair or have hair color bleed. It’s natural and you mix it with Lime or fruit juice
May 1st, 2009 at 7:50 pm
I am an African-American woman that’s looking for a salon that colors with henna. I have all-natural hair and my friends told me to consider henna for my curls. I am looking for a hair salon in Philadelphia; any suggestions?
June 12th, 2009 at 8:56 am
The SCREEN is too small. We need to see the hair esp. w/ this type of subjectmatter. We can’t SEE the hair. This is ridiculous!!
October 13th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Oh my gosh1 That is exactly what my mother used to do to my hair when I was in my pre-teeens! She would spray “No more tears” detangler on it and some Dippity Doo and twist it , all over, and sit me on our front porch as the sun set over our Southern CA. home , til it dried. My dog as my companon. She did this for years, everyone loved my hair, even the hairdressers complemented me. Maybe I should go back to basics!
October 13th, 2009 at 8:53 pm
