Breakfast makes all the difference in the world in our house! I notice it with the kids of course, but even with myself. Coffee and air just don’t make for a lasting morning.

We started prenatal with fish oils. Now our kids love the DHA gels, and actually ask us for them every morning. I feel good about the system support this offers.

Multis are a great way to ensure the little ones are getting all they need!
August 20th, 2008 at 11:10 am
I find that keeping snacks and food even throughout the day helps to maintain a nice nutritional balance.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Great coverage! We started with liquid vitamins in milk and juice at a very young age. It is a good feeling to know they are having supplements as they go through the greatest grow stages of their life!
August 20th, 2008 at 11:54 am
I’ve heard that over taking multi vitamins can actually tax the kidneys. Natural sources are easier on the body and more beneficial.
August 20th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Indeed we to give our 3 children Multi’s and make sure they eat small snacks throughout the day. It seems to really help maintain and even blood sugar level and eases their moods!
August 20th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
I know that the food chain has lost nutritional value through out history but I still believe natural sourcing is the best bet for vitamins. In a high tech age I know we have the ability to engineer anything, but I don’t believe anything not found in nature is essential for is to live.
August 20th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Fresh juice is a tremendous way to get natural vitamins, and kids love it!
August 20th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
I have to agree with Katie, juice and fresh organic foods is the best way to obtain nutrition.
August 20th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
There are some great vitamins for kids. Mine love the ones that come in Gummy Bear form, perhaps a little to much
August 20th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
My thoughts are “hey if they take vitamins it can only help” Any support we can give those little bodies is a grand idea.
August 20th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
A solid multi coupled with fish oil seems important for kids.
August 20th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Sound advice. Supporting a system with vitamins is good when coupled with a balanced diet, sleep and moderation.
August 20th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
My girls love snacking which works well to keep the calm. One is a big breakfast eater the other lunch, but both relish snack breaks through out the day!

Children don’t really need additional supplementation + many of their foods are fortified with vitamins and minerals. Here is a good article from the Mayo clinic:

Whole foods, juices are great for a natural source of vitamins and minerals. I don’t think a supplement can hurt but only help.
August 21st, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I appreciate that you don’t just speak about vitamins but include the importance of a balanced diet for a well rounded health approach.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Vitamins might be more important for older people then for young kids. Kids systems can integrate everything they digest, where as when we age this process becomes more difficult.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Nordic Naturals makes a great Omega 3 and our kids seem to love the flavor.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:23 pm
We used a great liquid vitamin in goats milk as a supplement when I breast fed our boys. It felt good even early on to know they were getting good supplements.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:24 pm
It is really good to see Whole Foods entering the social media world.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Omega 3’s are tremendous brain food for the little ones. We give these in the morning and at night.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Nice! Thanks for addressing this issue.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:41 pm
I kind of agree that vitamins are not so important for kids. I do believe the Omega 3’s are a good addition to their diet.
August 21st, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Our pediatrician is a big believer in supplements of children. It is a formative time and this helps build a strong foundation
August 21st, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Vitamins for kids and adults can really help keep your system solid.
August 21st, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Liquid vitamins assimilate much easier the capsules. We use a liquid multi.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:49 am
Interesting mayo link. I still hold the position that using a multi as a supplement can only help your overall health..
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:56 am
A good balanced breakfast is really key in set the metabolism right for the day. From there if you keep your body balanced allot of the need for a vitamin will go away. To many people start their day with coffee and then crash mid morning and reach for quick sugars as a way to re-elevate.
August 22nd, 2008 at 6:08 am
Hey taking a vitamin can only had to the possibility of reaching daily nutritional needs.
August 22nd, 2008 at 6:12 am
Natural source are the best, but adding supplements does not hurt and can’t help but round out your nutritional input.
August 22nd, 2008 at 9:29 am
I’m a believer in supplements. I started taking liquid vitamins 2 years ago and have seen a big jump in my energy levels and have noticed my hair and nails are much more healthy as well.
August 22nd, 2008 at 9:33 am
I love the podcast!
August 22nd, 2008 at 3:52 pm
My kids definitely need to be taking a multivitamin. They will be eating in the cafeteria at school most days and I never know what kind of junk they are eating. Thanks!
August 24th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I believe a good multi with a glass of real orange juice is the perfect start to every day.
August 24th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
If you can get your kids to go for a liquid multi, it works well. We put ours in juice and they have become very use to the flavor. I notice an increase in their staying power through out the day!
August 25th, 2008 at 6:36 am
We were guided by our doctor to a multi-vitamin for the kids. Not sure if it affects their energy level or not, but I do feel good giving them this supplement.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Natural vitamins, in my opinion are the best way to reach peak nutritional values. Juices and vegetables are the fantastic sources.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:39 am
I to am a believer in natural sources for minerals and vitamins. A balanced diet of Organic foods should deliver you a well rounded supply.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Glad to see Whole Foods putting this series out. I think it is important to give kids Omega 3, perhaps even more so then a standard multi. It really helps with brain function and development.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Vitamins are great for all ages. When we age we need the supplementation, and in the formative years it is vital as well.
August 26th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
D.H.A. I believe is the name of the Omega we give our guys. They are crazy about them, and eat them like they are candy.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I agree with others here that state that natural food sources are the best for the body.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
I believe the supplements we take are a great way to insure we have all of our health/nutritional basses covered.
August 26th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Nice podcast.
August 27th, 2008 at 6:52 am
I like seeing this discussed. We have always given our kids supportive vitamins and minerals, and feel it has played a strong part in their development.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Good info, thanks for the presentation and the ongoing series.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Believe it or not, we are able to mix our liquid multi into our kids milk and they are very use to the flavor now.
It feels good to know they are getting their daily needs met nutritionally.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Omegas are great building blocks for a childs cognitive functioning. I have started taking them myself, but perhaps the damage is already done… I don’t notice any super powers thus far
August 28th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
I agree with the above, it would be great if there was a 365 kids vitamins that had the same quality standards as the other great vitamin lines you carry.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Our entire family does a vitamin push twice a day. It is actually quite funny to hear all of the bottles rattle each morning as we sit down for breakfast. I feel a lift in energy from the support I get from this.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
A clean multi + a balanced diet seems like the way to go. When I eat poorly and don’t keep up with supplements it really reflects negatively in my lasting power throughout the day.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Liquid multis are great + you can find some really good drinks at Asian food markets. Some have ginger root others are loaded with vitamin B’s!
August 28th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Now a multi can have a funny smell, but the result of taking one is brilliant. Increase energy, and a sense that one is giving her body all she needs to run. It has really helped me with my monthly cycles as well.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Snacking through out the day and eating just a bit lighter during your main meals, will really help keep your metabolism steady, which in turn means better assimilation of nutrients.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
A liquid multi is the way to go. Your body can assimilate more of the supplement in a liquid form. I also agree that balance of nutrition through out the day is vital.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:13 am
Our pediatrician is a big time believer of solid vitamin support for the kids. We give her a multi + DHA.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Good to use multi vitamins!
August 31st, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Very interesting coverage! I am a multi vitamin fan, they really help keep my internal system flowing well.
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:38 pm
We established a good habit for our kids, with all of us taking our vitamins every morning. Today my kids are older and still continue this on their own.
September 4th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Good podcast!
September 4th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Multis and DHA-are a stable at our table.
September 5th, 2008 at 11:56 am
This ties in really well with your cast on EFA’s I just posted over there that I can attest to the value of supplements.
September 5th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Indeed we should all take multis if we can, they are a tremendous way to ensure you are balancing out your diet.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
WF caries a gummy bear, supplement line from “Lil Critter”. It is a great line that has several options such as multi, wellness etc
September 6th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
A good liquid multi is very important for development for young ones, and of course important to everyone particularly as we age, or face a stressful pace of life.
September 7th, 2008 at 6:16 am
Just took my vitamins. Usually every morning with some food I take a B-complex and a multi and feel great all day!
September 7th, 2008 at 6:23 am
Must of my friends kids are taking supplements and it seems to work very well.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I agree with many of the other comments here, that a liquid multi is the best for assimilation into the body.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:43 am
I tried mixing liquid multis into my kids juice, to no avail. I’ll try some of the chew vitamins mentioned above.
