I always bring a trail mix with me that focuses on nuts rather than candy. I always try to eat something healthy before arriving at the airport and pack fruit like bananas and oranges that can with stand some rough handling. In addition, I cut up a couple of red and yellow peppers and mix it with carrots. It's really good and gives you a good boost of Vitamin C. Most airports do sell yogurt which I also nosh on while waiting for the plane. If I'm in the car, I also try to eat something healthy before leaving and pack a variety of fruits, vegetables, and nuts to provide some variety.
