For Lindsay...I've worked for many bakeries and all of them freeze their cakes at some point. If they weren't, the cakes would dry out before we could get to them all to decorate. Imaging baking a two dozen sheet cakes and trying to get them all decorated in one afternoon? They actually hold the frosting better when frozen. Whole Foods is no different than any other bakery. Except that they use better ingredients than most!

We drive three hours to shop at the Baton Rouge store. We shop about every three weeks. The store has really meant a lot to us for the healthy food. The drive is worth it just to get the uncured bacon, the vegan chocolate cake, the organic grapes, etc. I could go on and on, everything is wonderful.
Thanks for being there and also everyone is so nice and helpful.

I used to love the Whole Foods bakery section. Until yesterday when I bought a tiramisu to take to a friend's house for dinner. 1.5 hours later we went to cut into it and it was FROZEN.

I had stopped at whole foods to buy a nice, fresh desert and was shocked when we couldn't serve my contribution because it was frozen. It may have been my ignorance but I always felt Whole Foods had presented a fresh bakery section. I called to let them know my disappointment and was surprised to learn that all of their cakes are frozen at some point in the process. A bit more truth in marketing would have been nice - I could have bought a frozen cake for 1/2 the price and would have known I had to defrost it before serving.

@Kathy: Many of the bakeries at our stores take special orders for wedding cakes. Please check in with your local store. Thanks!

Product availability is handled individually by each store. You could ask the Georgetown store for the recipe and then request it from the Short Pump location. Best of luck! http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/all/index.php

My daughter has several food allergies (dairy, eggs, nuts and Sesame) so getting a dessert for her Bat Mitzvah was tricky. Happily I discovered that Whole Foods makes a vegan cupcake that she could eat. Whole foods colored the frosting used on the vanilla cupcakes (lavender, pink and green). They were not only delicious but beautiful. The kids loved them and the adults wanted them as well. I would highly recommend buying vegan cupcakes from whole foods if you or someone you love has food allergies.

I am looking for a Danish bread called Rugbrod. It is made with rye flour and contains yeast, buttermilk, also sunflower seeds and flaxseed..
Do you have this bread, or if not, would you consider making it?
Thank you
