I got to see firsthand what a difference these microloans make in Guatemala. It is amazing to see what $2 or $3 does, many of these families in this community live on less than that a day. The kids wear the same clothes everyday, and their shoes have holes in them. We don't think twice about spending that much money on a coffee, or even a beer after work. I think twice now before buying a drink when I'm out, and instead will pocket the money to send to the kids of Pena Blanca, after all, $6 feeds a child for a month, and I can certainly do without a glass of wine with dinner. It really makes you think about what's important and what's not. I'm glad Whole Foods makes the paycheck contribution program so easy to participate it, it's a no brainer to give at least $1 to this program, we won't miss it, but it goes so far and adds up so fast! Thanks to all the team members who do this, especially my store in Colorado Springs, we had the 2nd highest team member contributions currently at 78%!

Just think how many potential loans that would make. In theory, by contributing $40,000 a month, we are creating 4,000, $100 loans every month. In a year that makes 48,000, $100 loans! Imagine all the people these loans are helping. Way to go Team Members! We are truly an awesome bunch :)
