Check out The Environmental Working Group’s website, http://www.ewg.org, for info on many, if not most, body products. EWG is an independent group that evaluates products and rates them on ingredient toxicity. You can search by brand, product, etc.
Also lists the “dirty dozen” on produce for pesticide residues, the “clean 13″ for produce, cell phone radiation, and more. Sign up for their newsletter. And no, I don’t work for them! Just a great resource. I’m surprised no one else mentioned this website yet!

Oh, btw, http://www.skindeep.org IS THE SAME as Environmental Working Group. Sorry, someone did post this, I just didn’t scroll down to read the 100s of comments.
As for sunscreen, AVOID Oxybenzone >3%. See EWG website for info.

One more thing: I would REALLY value WFM’s commitment to scientifically based guidelines for personal care products by adhering to the EWG website recommendations. Even WFM brand shampoo didn’t rate well recently (so it was reformulated). I don’t even want any of the Shoppers Guide to Safe Cosmetics ingredients in ANYTHING you sell at WFM. Thanks!

I am also wondering about chemical free hair color. Do you carry any brands? I have heard (like Linda) that Light mountain is a good brand. Any ideas for us?

The best thing to look for in a sunblock (note: this actually does block out the sun) is Zinc and Titanium. Only two things proven. I like Baby Lizard, a lot. It says SPF30, but I can wear it for a good hour before needing to reapply.

It can be rare to find a specialist in whom you will surely have some confidence. In the world nowadays, nobody genuinely cares about showing others exactly how in this matter. How fortunate I am to have now found a real wonderful web site as this. It is people like you who make a true difference nowadays through the thoughts they write about.

I once bought a sample size of foundation and concealer both in in one lil round container that is clear plastic on top and metallicish brown on bottom at Whole Foods Austin-that you use with brushes that I bought also, and wonder if you can tell me what brand it is and if you still sell it? I think something to do with minerals maybe cause they also had a powder and lil spray bottle of water in one kit all for face. It ended up working almost better than Mac makeup. Thanks.

@Q I’m so glad to hear that! Unfortunately each of our stores offer some differing products in their cosmetics centers. The best way to get the most accurate information regarding that specific foundation and concealer is to reach out to the Team Members in the Whole Body Department at the Austin store you had visited. Below I’ve included the contact information for the Lamar and Gateway stores (the only 2 currently open WFMs in Austin). If you reach out to them, a Team Member there will be happy to assist you.
