Good to know stinging nettles have a place in this world
There are several in the woods behind our house and all to often my kids and I come out from hikes with welts on our legs. I’ll make peace with the nettle and try this out!

I’ve heard about vitamin C and B as being beneficial for allergies. I couldn’t make out the name of the supplement your guest mentioned which should be taken with vitamin C.
April 7th, 2009 at 11:27 am
Big believer in Vitamin support through allergy season, all seasons for that matter!
April 8th, 2009 at 11:09 am
Great follow up to your first podcast!
April 8th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Mary’s comments are funny. I agree that it is good to hear Stinging nettles have many useful medicinal qualities.
April 8th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Excellent! Looking forward to the next one.

Fantastic information!

I really appreciate the info your guest offer. Some of the product names flew by, I would love a list of the products she suggested especially the one to be taken with vitamin C.

Very good guest, great job!

This info is so refreshing. The time of year is here already and I will not go through another Allergy season with my head and energy destroyed by harsh medicines. thanks WF!

It is interesting how where you live can affect allergies. Where I grew up I had terrible seasonal allergies. I moved 2 years ago and find that I don’t have nearly the allergic responses I use to have.
April 8th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Very good to hear the vitamins I am already taking can help support my system from allergies.
April 8th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
Bravo! you’ve done it again- thanks for championing natural approaches to health and well being!
April 8th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I appreciate the knowledge shared Dr. Cook.

The supplement she mentioned to take with Vitamin C is corsitin, a bio-flavenoid in garlic and other foods.
April 9th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
Oh, and she mentioned bromoline, a protein-digesting enzyme in pineapple
April 9th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Where can you get Corsitin? I cannot find it anywhere. Or is it something to “get” via garlic tablets?
April 9th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Thanks Rebekah for the Corsitin call out, I couldn’t catch that one, but I can’t find it in a source either.

Good info. I’ve noticed my allergies acting up for the first time in years and needed this reminder!
The supplement mentioned was actually quercetin (histamine blocker) and can be found at Whole Foods and other health food stores. She also mentioned bromelain (food enzyme) which works well in conjunction with it.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the podcast. I also enjoy all of the dialogue going on here.

Vitamin supplements seem to have so many values. I’ve listened to several of your podcasts and this seems to be the one common thread in natural health approach.

I love to see the sun come back after a long winter. The grasses are growing the flowers and trees are budding, and my nose is flowing. I’ll beef up my vitamin C intake and check out these homeopathics as well!

Great timing. This Easter weekend we were outside all weekend, and I am stunned at the reaction to new pollens my children are having. I like the idea of being able to give them gentle products to help them.
April 13th, 2009 at 7:13 am
Good to know that quercetin serves as a natural histamine blocker! This year seems to have started off strong for me in the allergy department.
April 13th, 2009 at 7:14 am
Thanks for creating this podcast. All to often we are only presented with harsh “traditional” options to deal with allergies. This time of year there are so many advertisements popping up.
April 13th, 2009 at 7:25 am
Indeed you are on to something here. Building up natural immunity through low doses of that which you are allergic to, is the best way to have sustained success in battling season allergies! Great work.

Glad to see a market/store venturing into social media. This is a nice continuation from the work and products you offer in store.
April 13th, 2009 at 7:32 am
Glad I was turned on to this series!
April 13th, 2009 at 7:38 am
Thanks for the info! I have been feeling the need already for some support against allergies.
April 13th, 2009 at 7:39 am
Great podcast, thank for posting this!

I am so happy I was led to this site! I believe in natural ways of dealing with health, but have yet to apply this belief to my allergy regimen.
April 13th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Wow, this was great information. I wasn’t aware of the natural supplements that could be helpful in preventing and treating allergies. Great Stuff!!

Is anyone familiar with allergies within dogs. One of my dogs has bad airborne allergies. I have recently started him back on benedryl after spring started when I noticed he was becoming miserable. I would prefer a homeopathic remedy. Just yesterday I found QBC at Whole Foods which is Quercetin and Vit. C capsules. I am going to give him 1 capsule twice daily. Has anyone ever tried this or similar products on their pets?
April 20th, 2009 at 10:23 am
My son has been taking Quercetin, Bromalain, and Stinging Nettles to keep him off of prescription meds for several years. He had reached a point where the doctor wanted him on several different prescriptions and a shot. We had to find a better way. This works and he doesn’t even have to take the amounts discussed here. We also started Bee Propolis and Turmeric to keep off of asthma meds. Do your research about side effects. Some of these we alternate on and off during high and low allergy seasons.
