I just started making empanadas. However; they have to be fried and are wrapped in a white flour dough. Any healthier suggestions.

Have you ever heard of rarebit? Cheese sauce poured over toast? It was a favorite of mine when I was younger, unfortunately it was made with processed jar cheese (whiz), mustard, a can of beer and some worcestershire sauce. I miss the flavor and memories and wish there were a healthier way to make it. Can you help? Thank you. Dina
