I would highly suggest reading Mr. Masumoto's several books. He writes about life growing up on a farm and contrasting that life with the life he now lives on the same family farm. Great reading! I've read them all.

Thanks for the great story! My family and I are in the planning stages of exactly where to go "up north" to get some of that Summer fruit goodness -- we usually go into SW Oregon to get blackberries, blueberries, peaches & nectarines.. We like some of the varieties that you can get up there due to the colder climate (we're in So-Cal).. We've also had great luck with peaches in particular near Palisade Colorado where Peaches (and occasionally Peachcots -- a rare fruit that gets nailed in the winter on occasion) really thrive. Those Palisade peaches are frequently soft-ball size and the juice will drip down to your elbows! Yum! (BTW: in checking Google Maps on Palisade, if you're interested, visit Elberta Avenue -- basically the last exit off I-70 before leaving the east edge of town).. Just passing along -- no financial interest..
