Anne- you may not get this since it has been a while since you posted- but the best gf bread I have found is Udi's.

http://www.udisglutenfree.com/stores

It's very expensive to order online- but if you can find a store near you it is about $5 a loaf.

I am going gluten free with my entire family and really don't know where to start. I picked up a few things just to get us started this week but not having much luck. The bread for instance crumbled in my hands, can anyone recommend a good bread to make sandwiches with so I can send my kids to school with a sandwich that won't break up in their hands? Cookies, are there any that are better than the other? I don't want this to be too much of a shock to my kids. I cook them gourmet meals every night just so that they don't grow up on mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and I'm hoping to keep that going. I pulled off a few recipes from the Whole Foods website that I will begin making tonight, it sure looks good.
Any help or suggestions would be great apppreciated!!
THANKS!
