We love making tofurkey!
We've gone beyond the marinade recipe included in the package and have used a tandoori rub..You could certainly do a "mexican" version as well as chinese or italian etc...

Definitely bake in the bag (we use the standard ones for turkeys, although a bit big) and end up with moist delicious flavorful tofurkey that runs out every year. We cook 3 and there's never any leftovers!

I don't like turkey at all in any form. I just don't like the taste of the meat. For Thanksgiving this year, I made a pomegranate glazed Cornish hen. http://ifyancanyoucan.wordpress.com/2009/11/26/cornish-game-hen-with-pomegranate-glaze/ It was really good! :)

Where is the Gardein turkey roast available in NYC? I tried Houston Street and Union Square, NYC

Sean: There is a delicious turkey alternative called Gardein™ Veggie Stuffed Turkey Roast With Wild Rice and Cranberries. It is available in the hot foods deli at some Whole Foods Markets. I wish it was at all of them!

I have never been to wholefoods and was wondering if the Wholefoods at the Quarry, San Antonio, Texas has other vegetarian turkey brands that are either single portions or for 2-3 people

We always celebrate Thanksgiving the Saturday before, so we have a family tradition of cooking foods from different countries. We have celebrated Thailand, China, Mexico, Venezuela and Germany. It's great for a variety and the kids love it!

Whole Foods offer local organic turkey. I wrote an article about the benefits of going organic and local this Thanksgiving as well as some websites steering to where you can find the nearest farm selling healthy turkeys near you: http://www.shar-on-nutrition.com/?p=497
