Many people want to start off each year with dietary changes as part of a weight loss program. It’s a good chance for a fresh start, so I like to help them make the right food choices and ensure that exercise is part of the overall regime. Something else that I’ve been recommended for the past five years, which has become the most important part of this program, is cleansing.
It’s one of the major – and often missing – components of a successful weight loss plan. I consider it one of the three keys to kick-starting a diet.
- Optimizing digestion: get a good cleanse supplement to help you get things “moving.”
- Managing your food intake: don’t just eat fewer calories, eat better calories – more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats (try to eat organic foods when possible.)
- Becoming more active: Get out there and start moving. Make your exercise something you enjoy, and it’ll become part of your routine.
How does a cleanse optimize digestion?
A cleanse propels your body’s digestion system to help clear out the “junk” you may have accumulated over the holidays. With the right cleanse supplement, two weeks is about what it should take to get your body the momentum it needs to help you reach your fitness potential.
Not all cleanse supplements are alike.
Look for a good cleanse supplement – they’re not all the same. A good cleanse supplement program can give you the two-week “recharging” your health batteries need. The supplement should include:
- Fiber to help pull out the bad and get things moving. You want to go with a fiber supplement that expands – but does so gently – in your intestines to scrub toxins and excess waste away from intestinal walls and helps prime your body for fitness. It doesn’t give the bad stuff any place to hide or a chance to “double back” and be re-absorbed. Oddly, many cleanse supplements don’t include fiber, so choose carefully.
- A natural, gentle laxative formula.Look for a laxative formula that listens to the needs of your body. Make sure it’s a gentle, predictable laxative with no harsh stimulant ingredients to make you feel off balance – just botanicals that help get things “moving.”
- Support for your liver, too.The liver is always busy. It helps the body keep the good and get rid of the bad. Using an herbal supplement that includes milk thistle can do an amazing job of supporting the liver’s ability to detoxify the body. One thing to look for when choosing a milk thistle product is that it is absorbable (look for products bound to phosphotidylcholine).
Used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, a good cleanse really helps you jumpstart weight loss and energy to give you a fresh beginning in the New Year.

I expected to feel lousy for a few days and then brighten up. But I didn’t. I felt great right from the start. I had more energy. The cleanse did not inhibit any activity. I would suggest it to everyone.

One of my best friends and I are planning on doing a cleanse in the next couple days to “clean us out.” I love it because it makes my feel more energized and re-set internally. It’s nice to feel light and healthy, rather than weighed down by all the sweets from the holidays!
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:10 am
Cleansing makes me feel refreshed, renewed, and most importantly–energized!
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:00 am
I feel light and unburdened, ready to conquer the world. I love the feeling because I love the clarity and the start of something wonderful.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:19 am
I am doing a 21 day “Daniel fast”. It is basically a vegan diet, no sweetners, alcohol or caffeine.
Hoping for physical and spiritual benefits including improved liver function. New years is a great time for cleansing!
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:31 am
cleansing for me is like hitting the reset button. i feel like a blank canvas full of possibility.
January 3rd, 2010 at 12:12 pm
My wife and I are starting our cleanses today as a way to kickstart healthier living in the new year.
January 3rd, 2010 at 12:15 pm
I have never done a cleanse before and this may be good for me.
January 3rd, 2010 at 12:21 pm
The body is an amazing thing. It’s important we take the time and effort to help it function at its best. This is a great way to get started and the potential for weight loss is a plus.
January 3rd, 2010 at 12:45 pm
My husband and I did a whole body cleanse last January and we felt so good! Light and energized and we were not so grumpy! We are doing it again in a couple of days, can’t wait!
January 3rd, 2010 at 1:06 pm
January and February is a perfect time to detox. And I just picked up the 365 Everyday Value Psyllium Husk Powder Natural Mixed Berry FlavorRated from Wholefoodsmarket. After taking it for a week, I noticed that my constipation has improved greatly. Now I feel so much better. Good start!
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:05 pm
I’ve done cleanses a couple times before and I always feel a lot better afterward. I usually feel pretty healthy anyway, but I feel more light…refreshed, I don’t know. I just feel better.
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:26 pm
Cleansing makes me feel fresh and light! I am ready for anything! Happy New Year!!!
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:30 pm
Cleansing makes me feel light and more mobile. I don’t feel so bogged down, like I’m walking through a trench of heavy muck.
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:54 pm
Our “family” went raw last year for almost a month and loved it! We are now trying to do a cleanse prior to going raw again, during the holidays eating so much and over indulging has gotten us disgusted! We are looking forward to a new, healthier, lighter 2010!!
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:31 pm
I do a Complete Body cleanse every season & the firest of the year…And I have not been sick in 20 years.
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:08 pm
I do a cleanse every week or two. I have found that it helps me feel more energized.
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:22 pm
Doing a cleanse gets me motivated when I need to recharge my routine! I instantly feel lighter and it even lifts my mood after a holiday of junking out. One of my favorite things to add to my cleanse is a Senna tea. Look it up if you haven’t heard of these. They really work!
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:03 pm
I am thinking of doing a cleanse, this would give me a great opportunity to obtain that goal, to kickstart a weight loss program.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:33 pm
My friend recently gave me information on “The Perfect Cleanse”. I’m not sure that I will be doing this cleanse, especially after reading your blog. It seems like there are less radical ways to cleanse the body. I’m hoping to find some proucts at Whole Foods to get me started.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:41 pm
I going to start a cleanse tomorrow for the first time. I lost 30 pounds in 2009, but have hit a wall. I am hoping a change of “cleaning out” will jump start things for 2010!
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:37 pm
Cleansing made the difference in the way my skin looks. Clean bowels equals radiant skin. Just adding extra fiber wasn’t enough, neither was adding more hydration to the mix. Even though there effects were felt. It was colon cleansing that made the most difference.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:05 pm
I’ve never tried a cleanse before, but I think they are a great addition to a healthy lifestyle and are especially useful after a holiday.
January 4th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
I can’t say enough good things about cleansing. I use the Enzymatic Therapy Cleanse kit. I have used this 2 week kit, along with a temporary change in diet, 7 times now (every four months for the last couple years) and each time I do it I feel great! I usually lose a few pounds, I always have more energy and my skin looks awesome. Additionally, I used to suffer from seasonal allergies in the springtime but ever since I started cleansing, viola! No more allergies!
January 4th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
I always read about healthy lifestyle but never take action. Today I am on my way to wholefoods to start a new year, a new me… I am going to get cleased with new food, new routine and new attitude!!!
January 4th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
My husband and I are preparing to do a cleanse starting at the end of this week. I was intrigued when I recently learned that you can have a “brand new” liver in about a 5 month period if you treat your body right. I am not looking to lose weight from this (though I NEED to)…I just want to BE HEALTHY!! I am tired of headaches, sluggishness, being tired and basically just feeling worn down…I will check back in…I am planning on the “after” version of me being much better than the “before” version…
January 4th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
well, I have never done one, but am planning one starting today, with fruit and vegetable smoothies and salads for 7 days.
January 4th, 2010 at 4:37 pm
I am new to the cleansing routine, but I found everyone’s comments very inspiring. I hope to feel good and engergized shortly in the new year too!
January 4th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
I like to start the day off with a shot of lemon water and a spot of yoga.
January 4th, 2010 at 8:01 pm
Doing a full body cleanse makes me feel healthier and makes me have a lot more energy. I love doing my full body cleanses! Though I have not done one in over a year I would love to start off the new year with one!
January 5th, 2010 at 12:42 pm
Has anyone tried Vibrant Cleanse yet? it’s the Master Cleanse in powder form…
January 5th, 2010 at 5:30 pm
I have done a fasting cleanse with lemons, cayenne pepper and agave nectar (used instead of maple syrup since it’s got a lower glycemic index sugar) and enjoyed it but only did it for a day or two. I am borderline hypoglycemic so I get a little nervous about not eating for too many days.
So if I do a cleanse with food, do you suggest a pill that you take daily or are there more effective kinds? What about vitamins?
January 5th, 2010 at 8:01 pm
i am starting my cleanse on sunday and can’t wait..
I am always amazed the changes i se in myself after a cleanse..
not only do i feel better and have more energy.. but my skin glows my hair shines and my body never looks or feels better!

Out with the old and in with the new with a Whole Body Cleanse – the only New Year Resolution you need to start 2010 as you mean to go on.
January 6th, 2010 at 11:52 am
Cleansing helps me feel lighter both physically, mentally and emotionally, like there is a spring in my step. I feel renewed and cleared out. I feel like my energy returns. It feels like a spa vacation from the inside out!
January 6th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
I love doing cleanses! I feel so much better afterwards & keeps my digrestion working properly!
January 6th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Cleansing is the surest way to boost my health and renew energy! Toxins clog everything in the body, even the cell walls, which reduces the ability to absorb nutrients and dispose of accumulating waste. Feeling ligth and bright is the easiest way to describe the cleanse process, although a day or two in the beginning can make you wish the process was already done! It’s worth it all; however, from improved memory and concentration to reduced bloating and weight loss! I start my new one next week!
January 6th, 2010 at 1:41 pm
I have never done a cleanse before. I have looked into it many times, but have never made that leap. This year is the year I am actually getting serious about my health and my weight. I’m going to stop simply talking about it and actually do something about it!
January 6th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
I am no stranger to detoxing. I went on a hard core one that lasted about 2 months. it conpletely changed me for the better. I lost 25 pounds and all the little irritating ailments I was dealing with disappeared. And the food was natural and delicious!
January 6th, 2010 at 6:51 pm
Good advice. I started a month ago (I’ve got a long way to go). What better to pick up the spirits during cold and gloomy winter than to be doing something really healthy for your body. And, if the cleanse makes you want to snuggle into your bed, well, all the better! (No one is going to argue with you over that).
January 6th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
I haven’t tried a cleanse yet, but I can’t wait to!
January 6th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
I never had a cleanse before; however, after reading the comments – it’s about time!
January 7th, 2010 at 9:08 am
In years past I used to do two body cleanses a year. Recently I have gotten busy and have been just “putting it off”. I’ll be stopping at Wholefoods tonight on my way home to purchase one! This article reminded me how great I felt after doing a two week cleanse!! I had more energy, ate healthier and felt lighter in a sense which made exercising easier for me. Hope everyone has a healthy start to the new year!
January 7th, 2010 at 9:32 am
Cleansing makes me feel renewed and as if I have gotten a 2nd chance to begin anew. My skin and eyes are much clearer and I feel weightless.
January 7th, 2010 at 10:12 am
I’m on day 6 of a planned 14 day master cleanse juice fast – this will be my second. The first significantly reduced my need for some of my prescription meds and I felt GREAT after! It’s challenging to do a juice fast – you have to be prepared and ready for the detox symptoms but it is so worth it!
January 7th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
After being diagnosed with cancer, my goal this year is to only eat healthy foods. Starting with a cleanse was the perfect mindset for me to begin the best part of my life. It represents a new beginning “out with the bad, in with the good”. I believe most people who are living with more challenging diagnoses do so by setting new beginnings for themselves. I am not focused on the end, but rather how wonderful it feels to have a brand new start with a mind and body cleanse!
January 8th, 2010 at 1:03 pm
I am 6 days into my cleanse. I have really been paying attention to what I put into my body, haven’t eaten chocolate or had caffeine. No chips or other fast foods. I feel lighter and ready to start the new year off right.

Cleansing should be looked at like spring cleaning. It needs to be done in order to have a fresh clean start. It is invigorating.
January 9th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
We are a few days into a cleanse and already feel much better without all of the bloat from the holidays.
January 9th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
Cleansing makes me feel great! Removes all of the bad toxins building up in my body.
January 9th, 2010 at 2:02 pm
The Dr Max Powers “15 Day Cleanse” flatten my stomach and I am convinced helped me lose more weight even when I wasnt eating perfectly(stupid schwarma). Seven pounds in two weeks (tomorrow is my last day) is pretty darn good if you ask me. It’s inexpensive which is also a plus.
Not everything you lose will be pure fat because thats not what this does it gets rid of the toxins, excess water and bloat and make your body run more efficiently which then makes it easier for to lose weight. I will definitely try the Dr Max 15 Day Cleanse again in 6 months. . .

What rubbish. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and you will “cleanse” just fine, with the added benefit of micronutrients, vitamins and phytochemicals.

I usually feel really energized in a cleanse. The first few days can be rocky, but once I hit the peak, it starts to go really well. Afterward I tend to feel so much better and am really glad that I cleansed. I love feeling refreshed.
January 10th, 2010 at 9:23 am

Cleansing makes me feel lighter and healthier
January 10th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Starting the year with a cleanse was my way of refreshing my body, energy and spirit! I’m on day 4 of the Master Cleanse and already lost 6lbs. Beyond the weight I feel spirited and free from the grip habitual eating has over me! It’s so easy for eating to become about the social interactions, triggered response like smells, commercials or even just going to a mall where you always stopped and got a Starbucks! It’s rarely just about fueling our body! Then when we do it’s usually more than what it needs – portions and super sizing are out of control! It’s clear regular cleansing and detox from our food habit in the Standard American Diet is necessary on many levels! Give your body a break with this cleanse!
January 10th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
It helps me feel like I have a fresh start and have lots of energy! Thanks for the chance.
January 10th, 2010 at 2:03 pm

January 10th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Nice prize. I did buy a cleansing product once with absolutely no results so I am a little skeptical of that.
January 10th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
A cleanse sets me on the right track. Rids me of the sugars and synthetic compounds laden in our foods that our bodies end up craving out of confusion, cleanses me of the dairies and such that create my allergies and sinus issues… I feel sparkly and energetic with a cleanse, and then I’m ready to live my best…
I want this for 2010! Cheers!
January 10th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
I have a number of G.I. problems and a good cleansing every so often cleans out the sticky matter, and makes me feel better.
January 10th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Great! Lots less sluggish! Cleanses for everyone!
January 10th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
My first cleanse wasn’t the best experience mainly because I didn’t think to use something gentle on my body (it was a pretty strong laxative). I think doing a healthy food/supplement cleans would definitely make me feel more energized.
January 10th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
Can you recommend a Milk Thistle supplement?
January 10th, 2010 at 8:49 pm

January 11th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
I’ve never done a cleanse before! With all of the holiday foods and neglecting my excersize time, I have been feeling really yucky over the past few weeks. I have been hearing the Whole Foods commercials on the radio about cleansing supplements and I may just have to give it a try!
January 11th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
I have learned to start slowly to avoid the bloat and gas that quickly does. I increase natural fiber and vitamin C every 4 hours until I begin to “move”. Drinking LOTS of water to flush the toxins out. (giggle on pun)
The first year I cleansed I got a lot of old, stale, and smelly toxins out. My skin become smoother and I regained some youthful color or glow.
Cleansing gave me back some of my youth from the inside out. A true beauty product.
Looking youthful also means feeling and acting youthful with a bounce in my step.
I recommend to start slow and get the toxins out.
January 12th, 2010 at 10:44 am
Cleansing really makes me feel so light and my thinking is more clear. Love it.
January 12th, 2010 at 11:11 am

I’m on week two of a two-week cleanse, and feeling naturally-lifted, energized and invigorated! I’ve already decided to continue many aspects of this cleanse going forward; it’s much easier than people may think!
I’m using the mineral-based cleanse kit by Nature’s Way. Opting away from sugars, caffeine, meat and dairy in favor of a great variety of fruits and veggies, nuts and beans, I’m ready to take on all sorts of physical and mental tasks at all times of day. Very cool!
January 12th, 2010 at 2:06 pm
I’ve never cleansed before, but I think it could be the start to the healthy lifestyle I’m working towards!
January 12th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
I convinced my boyfriend to do a 2 week whole body cleanse. I frequently do the cleanse but he wasn’t so sure taking fiber, laxatives, and milk thistle was right for his body. Like many others commented he loved the increased energy levels. Another positive side effect is the increased motivation to stick to other healthy habits. We have been working on cutting out sweets and watching portions sizes. After the clease he was much more aware of his body and what he put into it so he wouldn’t get back to feeling like he did before the cleanse. We highly recommend the cleanse to our friends and family.

I actually can’t answer the question as I have never done it. I am looking into it and would like to try it. I imagine I would feel refreshed.
January 13th, 2010 at 5:26 am
I’m 10 days into my Whole Foods Whole Body Cleanse and I feel lighter! After way too many cookies (and wine) over the holidays, I feel detoxed. Hooray!
January 13th, 2010 at 9:17 am
it’s great when your system feels super-charged after a cleanse. like, everything is just working better and more efficiently.
January 13th, 2010 at 11:05 am
It makes feel like I am doing right by my body!
January 13th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Eating healthier and exercising more is always a good idea but laxatives, even ones that are “just botanicals” are unnecessary at best and harmful at worst. Our guts are self cleaning–eat a high fiber diet and let them do the work for you.
January 13th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
I’ve never done a cleanse, but there is an amazing difference in how I feel when I am eating cleanly. The change in my energy level alone is huge.
January 13th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Cleansing makes me feel lighter! Sometimes I can get out of control, gain some weight, feel bloated, etc. Cleansing makes me feel liberated from all the plunges I take with food and liquid from time to time. I think it’s a great idea for people who want to start a diet and exercise program. It’s a great way to get going. Thanks for this giveaway. It would definitely come in handy.
January 13th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
I’m still looking into cleansing (full-fledged) but for now I can totally tell a difference when I’m eating well, exercising and getting enough sleep. I imagine the cleanse would amplify those results immensely!
January 13th, 2010 at 5:36 pm
I haven’t done a cleanse, but it is something that I am going to consider.
January 13th, 2010 at 10:33 pm
I have never tried a cleanse before. It seems like a good thing to do for my body every so often.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:31 am
It feels great. It makes me feel like anything is possible – a fresh start.
January 14th, 2010 at 10:06 am
I’ve never done one. However, it could be a really good thing…it sounds like most people have had a positive experience.
January 14th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I agree that your body adjusts, but I have to admit that the first day was very difficult…hungry, tired, lightheaded, cranky.
January 14th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
Last time I cleansed, I felt energetic, enthused, and like I could go on and on and on and on…
January 14th, 2010 at 6:55 pm
It really DOES make me feel better. Not only does cleansing get things inside running smoothly, it makes me want to continue making good decisions to keep feeling balanced.
January 14th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
Cleansing makes me feel great. After I cleanse I no longer need that extra caffeine in the afternoon to keep me going, I have the energy to work all day!
January 15th, 2010 at 10:59 am
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good liver detox program that won’t completely make me have to change my diet????
January 15th, 2010 at 7:25 pm
I’m looking for a good cleanse that I can find from WholeFoods Market. Any ideas?
January 16th, 2010 at 12:03 pm

January 17th, 2010 at 11:25 pm
Cleansing – and I’ve been doing it periodically for several years – always makes me feel “rebooted.”
January 18th, 2010 at 12:01 am
Gotta get the gunk out!
January 18th, 2010 at 12:05 am
In the past-I’ve done short term detox and cleanse. It really revs up your energy about the 3rd day into the cleanse.

Cleansing makes me feel clean inside.
January 18th, 2010 at 6:26 am
I have been cleansing once every three months using various brands. The personnel at Whole Foods has been a huge help in directing me to products to be used, the cleanse makes me feel pretty outside and healthy in my own body. Would recommend to all.
January 18th, 2010 at 6:57 am
I tried the “master cleanse” as my 2010 new year resolution….I only lasted a day! This cleanse is much more realistic, thanks!
January 18th, 2010 at 8:23 am
I have always been afraid to try a cleansing. I am one way or the other, plugged up or liquid. I have to ride a bus to and from work so I cannot stop when I want to.
January 18th, 2010 at 8:24 am
It makes me feel lighter!
January 18th, 2010 at 8:33 am
I love Whole Foods!
January 18th, 2010 at 8:39 am
A good way to start the year, and good diet advice generally. Less fat and carbs, more fruit and veggies; add some moderate exercise (an hour a day) and it’s all good. One quibble: with a bran muffin in the a.m, an apple for lunch, and broccoli at supper(steamed “to the tooth”, then briefly sauteed in olive oil, dash of sesame oil, squeeze of lemon) there should be enough fiber in the diet for “regularity”, so don’t get over-enthusiastic with the laxatives – you just want to lose that “junk in the trunk”, not the beneficial intestinal fauna that aid digestion.
January 18th, 2010 at 9:03 am
I truly believe in cleansing. I’ve tried Isagenix but its really hard to do a detox when you have a busy schedule and kids to feed. If I could just stay out of the kitchen and just concentrate on me during that time it would be more beneficial. I look at it as a cleansing of the mind as well as the body.
January 18th, 2010 at 9:37 am
Definitely renewed with more energy.
January 18th, 2010 at 9:51 am
Cleansing? Looking forward to trying it in the future. The staff at Whole Foods have been great to recommend products and help me.
January 18th, 2010 at 9:54 am
I feel lighter when I cleanse. My system feels less taxed and I don’t feel very hungry. I also feel healthier and that I’m doing something for me.
January 18th, 2010 at 10:11 am
Cleansing makes me feel absolutely great and renewed. I also feel healthier and more at ease.
January 18th, 2010 at 10:17 am
refreshed, renewed
January 18th, 2010 at 11:19 am
Dr. Morello gives some great advice. I have several digestive disorders, which I have been hospitalized for on several occasions. “Cleansing” is something that I know is important, but my system is so compromised from autoimmune disorders, diverticulitis, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Classical), and a neuroendocrine tumor disorder that I am literally afraid of trying most cleansing products. His advice to use one with fiber that expands SLOWLY really struck a cord with me — that way I won’t have the awful “scaping, bleeding” sensation that comes with some fiber products. The idea of milk thistle for liver support rang “true” to me as well.
January 18th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
Cleansing is a great way to get started on a new year. It clears the system to perform at its best and make the most of the nutrition coming into the body.
January 18th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
Best cleanse I can recommend is a cleansing diet. 80-10-10 low fat raw vegan will clean you up at a pace you can stand. The diet is whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruits and veggies. This dietary plan was originated by Dr. Doug Graham and you can purchase his book online or visit his website http://www.foodnsport.com. Good luck and best wishes to all!
January 18th, 2010 at 12:34 pm

January 18th, 2010 at 1:57 pm
Cleansing makes me feel more in tune with my body and what it needs to function properly
January 18th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
I’ve done several cleanses and my husband and I are beginning another shortly. I’ve always found that in addition to the physical benefits, cleansing helps me to refocus my energies and move forward with more optimism.
January 18th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Cleansing helps me feel more energetic and confident.
January 18th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Makes me feel more comfortable in my own skin/body.
January 18th, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Doing a cleanse once a month is the way I keep myself from feeling sluggish and depressed. Our bodies go through so much everyday: stress and toxins. It’s great to give it a break from time to time. After awhile you get used to cleanses and look forward to that time when you can slow down and focus on yourself.
January 18th, 2010 at 11:44 pm
I have been thinking of trying a cleanse, too many chronic minor issues piling up, and I have been suggested this by many people, I actually found this by searching whole foods for detox products =P

For those fearful of a cleanse…just adding Ground Flax Seed to your diet helps tremendously!!
January 19th, 2010 at 4:00 pm
I have heard so much about cleansing but have never tried it. I’m intrigued. I could use a good jump start to my new life plan.
January 20th, 2010 at 7:36 am
I’ve never really tried a cleanse, but we keep our diets healthy, so I like to think my body doesn’t need one!! Maybe I’m just fooling myself…
January 20th, 2010 at 9:09 am
I have never done a cleanse before and need help in suggesting a product. Can anyone help.
January 20th, 2010 at 11:16 am
Cleansing makes me feel a little lighter and fresher.
January 20th, 2010 at 11:45 am
For optimum health it is the best thing a person can do for their body. When the toxins leave you’ll gain more energy.
January 20th, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I have never done a cleanse. However, after reading all of the other comments, the benefits sound really good. I think I’ll try it.
January 20th, 2010 at 5:20 pm
I’ve been thinking of doing a cleanse for awhile, and it sounds helpful. What are some good, gentle programs? Is it doable with a full school or work schedule?
January 20th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Need to try this to get a start on healthy living. A sluggish me is no good for anyone!
January 20th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Do you recommend cleansing with teas that offer detox properties?
January 21st, 2010 at 8:32 am
I’ve tried body cleanse products in the past and both were a waste of money and time. I’m not sure if metabolism or absorption was or is a problem but both did the opposite. Rather than cleanse I ended up constipated and followed the instructions word for word and drank plenty of water?
January 21st, 2010 at 3:12 pm
I feel ‘lighter’ and have more energy when I’m awake altho I want to sleep more during the process.
January 21st, 2010 at 11:59 pm
i haven’t tried cleansing, but would like to try something safe and gentle
January 22nd, 2010 at 8:25 am
I love how I feel after I do a cleanse. Some people say its all hype but I know that it is not. I feel lighter somehow and not so heavy in my instestines
January 22nd, 2010 at 11:19 am
Cleansing has made me feel like I’m 20 again. My sister turned me on to this and I thank her everyday.
January 22nd, 2010 at 1:06 pm
I have lost weight and feel better after doing a cleanse.
January 22nd, 2010 at 3:19 pm
I have never done a cleanse, but have considered it many time. My doctor said it would be ok to try a gentle one. I think it would be a healthy jumpstart to a diet of more fruits and veggies, which I am trying to add to my eating lifestyle. Thanks.
January 22nd, 2010 at 5:11 pm
level-headed, present, light
January 23rd, 2010 at 12:17 am
Have yet to cleanse, but am planning to very soon. Hoping it will get my body feeling back in balance!
January 23rd, 2010 at 1:44 pm
I’d be interested to look further into a 21-day program. Many of the “cleanses” I’ve seen are a 3- to 5-day fast-type detox/cleanse. On the one hand, I like the “quick fix” aspect of those, but am wondering if the long-term benefits of a 21-day cleanse would be better.
January 23rd, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Cleansing has been a way of life since I got out of college. How “on” my body feels when it is functioning at its full potential. The energy level is amazing!!! I tell everyone they should at least try it.
January 23rd, 2010 at 7:44 pm
The only way I can describe how I feel after doing a cleanse is LIGHT AND FLUFFY!

January 24th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
I’ve done many cleanses and have had amazing results. I feel lighter, more energetic and clear. People often comment how bright my eyes are after a cleanse. I now incorporate them regularly twice a year.
January 24th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
I FEEL LIGHT AND FLUFFY AFTER A GOOD CLEANSE. I CAN SEE WHY OUR GRANDPARENTS USED TO CLEANSE OFTEN BACK IN THE DAY. AT LEAST WE DON’T HAVE TO DO IT THE SAME WAY THEY DID..LOL
January 25th, 2010 at 9:16 am

Cleansing makes me feel…refreshed!
January 27th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Cleansing is a great way to clean house, so to speak. It helps my body energize its natural healing abilities.
January 27th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
I honestly have never done a cleanse, though it does sound very useful. I think it’s something that will benefit even those who are not looking to lose weight, as I, but simply to maintain and boost good health, particularly digestion, which can be kind of sketchy for me at times, after going through pregnancy and surgery.
Thanks for the article!

I am on day 3 of a 14-day organic cleanse purchased at Whole Foods. It’s amazing to me that I already feel so much better. Based on what I have read, I really expected to feel lousy for a few days after starting. Just the opposite — my head is clearer, I have more energy and no cravings for sugar or carbs like I normally have and indulge. Since the cleanse requires more liquids, I have added 2-3 cups of green tea in place of some of the water which makes it easier for me to meet the recommended amount. No headaches, stomach aches, lethargy. Excited to see how I feel in 11 more days!
January 27th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
I feel light, right, balanced. My aim is to keep that feeling going from day to day.
January 27th, 2010 at 11:05 pm

January 28th, 2010 at 9:49 pm
I feel clean and rejuvenated.
January 28th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
Cleansing makes me feel naturally alert and energetic, I feel like my 5 (and in some ways, 6) sense are clear. I also feel lighter, not so much in a sense of weight necessarily, but I feel less of an internal and external ‘drag’ or burden. I feel able to take on nearly anything when I’ve cleansed!
January 28th, 2010 at 11:17 pm
Cleansing makes me feel renewed and re-energized!

January 30th, 2010 at 3:54 pm

January 31st, 2010 at 3:44 pm
I usually feel a little tired when I cleanse, but I know it is because my body is working hard to get rid of the gunk. It just lasts a few days, and I allow myself to get the extra rest I need ro help the process. A few days in, I am energized, and feel like a new person.
January 31st, 2010 at 4:08 pm
Cleansingg makes me feel good on the inside which makes me a happier person. I have more energy and feel so much better!

I lecture on HUMAN ENERGY with mainstream proof of its existance through quantum physics, biology, chemistry and DNA. (www.theassumptions.com/Lectures.php) In my research I discovered a cleanse that is leagues above the others and for good reason.
Dr. Rich Anderson (www.cleanse.net) discovered something called Mucoid Plaque (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucoid_plaque). I met Rich a while back and finally started and completed his 28 day cleanse. On day 25 this 11 foot rope-like “stuff” came out coinded mucoid plaque. Immediately I felt a boost in my energy. Dr. Anderson discovered that a lifetime of your emotions (yes emotions) are stored in this stuff. When it comes out then all those old negative energies go with it.
Now, 3 weeks later, I have better memory with a keen increase in all my senses i.e., smell, sight, hearing, but most particularly a great clarity of thought. Overall, I just feel terrific. I recommend this to everyone. Candidly, regardless of your belief system, this is a manditory first step to purify yourself towards achieving spiritual awareness. You can find the cleanse at the company he founded 20 years ago Arise and Shine. (www.ariseandshine.com)

This is my first time wanting to fast by cleansing my body inside. I know that it would be beneficial for me. It would be great idea for me to do. My husband is a dialysis patient. He would want to fast also.

After all of the holiday treats, I feel bloated and a bit sluggish. I enjoyed the holidays, but I’m ready to get back on track with clean eating. I know a cleanse is just the kick-start I need. I’m excited to start my new year off right by doing something healthy for my mind and body.

I have never even shopped at Whole Foods, but I work at a library and someone there recommended to do a liver detox and told me to go to Whole Foods to purchase. I am planning on doing so in the next couple days for I need a clean because of a hormonal imbalance. I have tried several other alternatives (green tea, ayurvedic tea) and I feel better but I feel as though I need something stronger. Hoping it works.

I haven’t tried one yet. Hopefully a $25 gift card will indeed help kickstart things. Thanks for the article.

what products do you sell/recommend for a Cleanse?

@Nancy: Because our product selection varies from store to store, I suggest asking a Team Member in the Whole Body department at the location where you shop.

I’m starting my first cleanse tomorrow and I’m very excited. I hope that all the things that I’ve been reading (more energy, better sleep, clearer thinking, etc) all happen!
