At this time of year on cold, winter evenings, most people are staying inside and those who are brave enough to venture out are wrapped up in winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Rather than ponder on whether you can feel your toes or how many days are left ‘til Spring, why not try a warm and hearty lamb stew to keep spirits high?
The lamb you get year round from Whole Foods Market is raised to our strict quality standards:
- No antibiotics — ever
- No supplemental growth hormones
- No animal byproducts in feed
- Pasture raised
Try one of these lamb favorites:
Lamb Stew with Lemons and Olives
Tuscan Lamb and Artichoke Stew
Got a favorite winter lamb dish? We’d love to hear about it.

Are the lamb meats sold at WF 100% grassfed or are they pasture raise up to certain point? My WF sells New Zealand 100% grassfed Lamb meats, but they also sell local lamb cuts, like shoulder chops. Are these local lamb products 100% grassfed too?

Lamb Shawarma
Scramble 1 pound ground lamb with 1 medium diced onion, salt and pepper. Remove solids to a bowl and discard fat. To cooked mixture, add 2 diced tomatoes (I use plum which I have removed the seeds and jelly.) Take a 16 ounce container of hummus and spread it in a deep pie dish. Top with lamb mixture. Serve with pita and onion. Addictive!!
