CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER MARY FROM MADISON, WI. THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS!
We love our producers, suppliers and vendors and we think most of them have some pretty interesting stories behind their products too. We’ll be sharing some of our favorites here in an ongoing series. Read on for a chance to win a $50 gift card.
Doug Beretta is a family man. He’s one of four generations in Beretta Family Organic Dairy, a supplier of organic milk for Wallaby Yogurt. The dairy is based on a ranch that was bought in 1948 by Beretta’s grandfather, where the pasture-raised cows graze today. According to Beretta, the advantages of pasture-raising their cows are many. “You’re able to utilize your own land for feed. Organic feed costs are starting to get very expensive so we’re able to use our land to produce as much of the feed as we can.” In addition to the nutritional value of feeding cows on the pasture, “being on grass instead of concrete is a lot easier on the feet and legs of cows,” says Beretta.
Wallaby’s founders were looking for family farms and pasture-based dairies with this type of commitment to their cows and their milk, so partnering with Beretta Family Organics made perfect sense.
What do you think about the changes that Beretta Family Organic Dairy made when they switched from conventional to organic processes? Watch the slideshow above and leave a comment with your answer by September 9th. One comment will be chosen at random to win a $50 gift card to our stores.

Honestly the only yogurt that I enjoy eating. It just tastes like how real yogurt should taste like: not too sweet, not too creamy, not too sour, right consistency. I agree that a happy cow will give the best milk, because it is in the right natural condition. Please keep making amazing yogurt!

I think the Bretta Family made a wise decision when switching from conventional to organic, if everyone in the world did this, we wouldn’t have quite so many diseases. I eat organic food myself and would rather chose organic foods over conventional processed foods any day; synthetic chemicals and pesticide foods are OUT, organic in IN! YAY!!!!

What a beautiful story.

I think it’s great that the cows are out in the pasture and not in on concrete. Healthier cows mean healthier milk.

I love love love when he says that the cows just produce what they naturally would produce milk-wise. No pressure to make them super-cows. And that makes for much more happy cows too!!!

Wallaby is by far my favorite yogurt. I’m so glad the family made the decision to go organic. Their comments about letting cows pasture feed and produce what they naturally can is a sensible and sustainable model that also seems healthier and more compassionate. Thank you for rethinking farming!

LOVE wallaby yogurt! It’s the best brand of yogurt out there!

I’m happy Wallaby exists because I could eat their maple flavor every day for dessert! — and I don’t like yogurt! More importantly, I really appreciate the ethics behind Wallaby. It warms my heart to know people care and we need more businesses that care. The world would be a different place. Most importantly, I enjoyed seeing the conditions of the cows on the video. Humane is the way to go in every situation.
Thank you!

I have made a yogurt part of my lunch now for 15 years. I finally found a yogurt I love and look forward to every day at lunchtime. Thanks for making a great organic product. I love the creamy texture, and its not too sweet. Thanks again,

Wallaby is absolutely the best yogurt I have ever tasted. Having eaten many different yogurts for many years, I can honestly say this is delicious. I’ve told everyone who will listen
that I just love, love, love this yogurt!! I will actually think about it at night and just want one as if it were a dessert, yet, it’s healthy and organic. After reading about the farm where the milk comes from I love it even more, it starts with good vibrations, probably why it’s so good.
It should be in more stores, it’s hard to find.
Thank you for a great product.
