Organic Blueberries on Sale This Friday Only

By Anna Madrona, June 14, 2011 | Meet the Blogger | More Posts by Anna Madrona
That’s right! This Friday only, June 17th you can get a pint of organic blueberry goodness for only $1.99. Once you’ve stocked up on blueberries, how will you get your fill? You can, of course, eat blueberries straight from the basket (after rinsing) and throw a handful in a morning smoothie. But there are other meals of the day—plus many beverage-serving opportunities—for which berries of all kinds are a perfect addition. Here are the recipes that caught my eye for this year’s berry season, starting with blueberry, of course. Below you’ll find savory options for lunch and supper meals, along with sweet ones for drinks, breakfast dishes and dessert. And if you are a strawberry purist, click here for some great recipes featuring strawberries.
$x.xx = amount of savings will vary

How many pounds are in your pint containers? What variety are these? In what states where they picked. When will they ship? Overnight? Thanks Justin.

Is there a limit on how many pints you can order and also, how many pounds are in your pints. If there is a limit what is the limit you can order? Do you happen to know the variety they are? Thanks!

This is such a great deal on organic blueberries!! I'm going to buy a ton and freeze what I can't use this weekend. I'll whip up a batch of these crumb bars (http://becauseimaddicted.net/2011/03/recipe-blackberry-crumb-bars.html) with the blueberries instead of the blackberries for Father's Day brunch. Love it!

The fruit is primarily California grown, due to organic availability at this time of year. Some stores on the east coast will also have some fruit grown in North Carolina or New Jersey.

@charity: There are 11 ounces of blueberries in the pint, which is a little less than ¾ of a pound. Quantity limits vary by region, so check with your local store for that information: http://wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/. For your question about how much you can buy, that depends on the store you shop at because each region has their own regulation. Hopefully this helps your shopping experience for our wonderful blueberries!

@Justin olgle: Most stores should already have them in their coolers, but you should double check with the store where you shop.
